Thinking Big And Talking Sense

More than the Uniform Civil Code (UCC), what we really need today is Uniform Political Code (UPC) for all political parties, political leaders & lawmakers.

All political parties must have or follow a common ideology, common manifesto, common rules of governance, common education policy, and common foreign policy.

Political leaders & lawmakers must refrain from making tall promises (like promising them the moon) and announcing freebies to the weaker and backward sections of people which will have serious and untold repercussions on the national economy subsequently, for which the middle class category of people like me & you have to pay a heavy price in the long run.

They must not comment on sensitive issues pertaining to religion, defence, and national security. They must refrain from making derogatory & vulgar statements or comments on community leaders and rival political party leaders.

People will vote to them based on their past performance, track record, and their ability to convince the masses with their methodical plan of action followed by well-defined milestones in order of preference and time.

Is this possible ? Yes provided we are 100 % literate and provided we are 100 % self-reliant so that we do not succumb to false claims and tall promises.

More important, this would also be possible if all politicians or political leaders or lawmakers are 100 % literate and have minimum and common educational qualifications.

Election Commission must ensure that every political party follows a uniform moral code of conduct during Lok Sabha elections & Rajya Sabha elections, wherein no political party big or small, must be allowed to field a candidate having a criminal background or facing charges of corruption and misconduct in the court.

The appointment of Executive heads like President & Vice-President, and Governors to various states must not be political in nature which means that these constitutional posts must not be based on politics but purely based on merit and standing in society.

In others words, these executive posts or positions must not be held by politicians or lawmakers but by distinguished, esteemed, and eminent people from various walks of life be it academicians, retired judges, retired defence personnel, sportsmen, retired Scientists, retired IAS & IPS officers etc all of whom are treated or viewed with dignity and respect from one & all.

It is high time for implementing uniform political code and ensuring transparency in Indian politics. Only then we can say, without feeling embarrassed, that India is shining.
